Our Story:
What does the sand that fills our beautiful beaches and ElJay Pretzels
have in common?? Just as each grain of sand differs, so do each of the
handcrafted pretzels that come out of our kitchen.
Bob Browner created the recipe for our pretzels when trying to replicate
a childhood memory, and they became our contribution to our
neighborhood parties. That was, of course, until we were challenged to
market and sell them. And so it began…first in our Church kitchen, then 5
years later in our own kitchen!
We have never swayed from our simple recipe of only 5 ingredients, until
now, adding extra seasoning and EVOO to our delicious VON Chips.
Where does the name VON come from, you ask? A very special Angel
was put into our lives when we first started our kitchen in Pawleys
Island. She helped us care for Caryl’s mom in our home, which allowed
us to work so hard at building ElJay Foods. Though Eppie is no longer
with us we are forever grateful to VON!!
We truly hope you enjoy consuming your ElJay VON Chips as much as we
have enjoyed baking them!!! Enjoy our Rosemary and Plain flavors, with
more to come!!!
